Jay-Z (and Beyonce) to change their last names
Now I may be latedotnet with this one, but I have issues with a man changing his last name. There are two men that are allowed to change their names: Prince (because he can; remember when he changed it to that symbol?) and Stedman Graham (Oprah’s boyfriend, fiance, or whatever he is at this point of their relationship, because she makes more money than him).
I just have issues with a 40 year old man adding his wife’s maiden name (yes, I said it!) to his last name, just because they got married. To me, they’re going to always be Beyonce and Jay-Z. What’s with the hypenated extra mess? Yeah, we know they are married, but still….this screams p–ssy whipped or something. (Yeah, I said that too.)
“Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z – who married in April 2008 – are to take on both of their respective surnames in order to keep the Sweet Dreams singer’s parental line from dying out.
Jay-Z – whose real name is Shawn Carter – will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyonce is to become Beyonce Knowles-Carter.
A source revealed: “They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves.” ” (source)
Honestly, “Shawn Knowles-Carter” doesn’t roll off my tongue as easily. Why can’t he just continue being Shawn Carter? Even Shawn Knowles doesn’t sound sexy. They could have kept this ish to themselves.

This is beyond ridiculous. I really think that they will keep their names as is once Beyonce & Shawn see how offbeat this will look. If Matthew wants to see the Knowles name continue, then he could adopt a boy whose last name has yet to be determined. Therefore he could give the boy his last name & all would be well, but making Jay take on two surnames just doesn’t roll off the tongue the same way.

On the flipside I do like the picture of them posted here. It looks kind of innocent.
