Raise your (gloved) hand if you were disappointed with the 2009 BET Awards

Now, I am fully aware that MJ passed last Thursday and the BET Awards were on a Sunday, hence everything being rushed and all over the place. But I felt that BET could have done ten, no, a billion times better with the ceremony! MJ would have not approved of this, as the perfectionist Virgo he was. And I have some serious issues with this years awards. Shall we discuss under the hood?

  • After seeing Beyonce do this tribute to MJ on her tour, you would expect her to do the same at the awards, so WTF was this?
  • And while we’re at it, was that some Victoria’s Secret ensemble she had on?
  • Aren’t you glad Jay-Z got a haircut?
  • Where, oh where did they dig up Aaron Hall?
  • Weren’t you disturbed when Bobby Brown stuck out his tongue in the middle of the tribute to MJ?
  • Shouldn’t he have been Tito, as fat as he is?
  • As much as they tell us to respect our elders, didn’t you want Don Cornelius to get off the stage?
  • What was up with BET not doing their job with the censoring? Somebody’s getting fired!
  • Even though Jamie did a disclaimer before introducing Maxwell, didn’t you think it was still a tad bit odd for a hetero man to say that he gets “moist”?
  • Admit it, you liked when Eddie Levert cursed on stage too.
  • WTF was Ving Rhames talking about? Guns are Michael Jackson? Really?
  • The most disturbing of all…..Lil’ Wayne and Drake singing “Every Girl in the World” and saying RIP Michael Jackson at the end.
  • Controversial as it is, did you really think Chris Brown would perform?
  • Did you want him to perform?
  • Keri Hilson’s performance, yay or nay?
  • Why didn’t they ask Ciara to dance?

What were your favorite or least favorite moments?

how about:

Why was Joe Jackson the red carpet making a fool of himself?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgli9UYUT8M

Who told Ciara all that howling at the moon was necessary? Rumor has it she cried back stage..could it be because of MJ or was she embarassed?

Was this the Neyo/Jamie Fox show?

They say black dont crack…someone didnt tell that to BBD and New Edition’s VOICES

Bobby…oh hell no! On a positive note, looks like he’s off the crack.

Where was the tribute, all they did was horribly dress like MJ (I see u Ryan Leslie)

Keri Hilson tried to do the “Ur Doing Wrong” Bit from Bad…and FAILED! That Was Bad, Real Bad Keri Hilson

Why did Tiny and Toya let there kids on stage with Lil Wayne talkin about fuckin every girl in the world?

Who okayed them doing that song anyway?

I give up on BET.

I think BET is foul for letting viewers think that a tribute, a TRUE tribute was going to take place. They made it sound like they rearranged the ENTIRE show to make it a tribute to Michael. Now, I didn’t expect the ENTIRE to be solely dedicated to Michael, the performances were odd, the presentation of awards were lackluster. Joe Jackson was a DISGRACE to his son’s memory by showing up and plugging his record company and really showed NO type of sadness or mourning-it was like “business as usual.” I am sensitive to the fact that everyone mourns differently but Joe just stuck out like a sore thumb for a son who provided the lavish lifestyle for 40+ years on his blood, sweat and tears for his father to plug a damn record company know one seems to care about. Sufficed to say this half-assed tribute was about as chaotic and controversial as Michael’s life. You would think after death someone would have stepped up to properly honor this man the way he deserves to be. I’m also disappointed that Chris Brown was not apart of the show- perhaps it was for the best because for the people who will celebrate MJ’s life properly, he would be the perfect edition to honor the man that influenced and has made an indelible mark in this talented performers life. Regardless of Chris’ personal issues, I think he should be able to say his “thank you” to his idol.
Don Cornelius….was high as hell. The End
Gerald Levert….was the muahphuckin man….The End
Beyonce….as good of a performer she is…her performance last night was subpar…The End
Jamie performing AND hosting…..he did waaaaay too much…The End
Janet coming out at the end…made the long watch well worth it…THE END

yes! Eddie was the ONLY reason that show was worth watching…”Dancing and Shit!”

Ving Rhames..um no sir! What the hell was he talking about? Guns and Butter..Michael Jackson was like Guns?!? o_O

They should have never called this a tribute. I would have been content with them doing a lil montage at the end and calling it a day. They made it a point for the past few days to say that they extended the show an hour so that they could do a tribute to MJ and there was NO TRIBUTE..sure as hell wasn’t an hours worth. They extended the hour to let Don Cornelius tell stories of his child hood..thats about it!

Joe Jackson considered his son a star. Nothing more. He did not refer to MJ as his child, but as the biggest star in the world. Who does that? Who experiences their child die before them and can still find it in themselves to plug their new record company. Even Joe’s publicist showed more emotion than Joe did..i could never grow up with that man. I feel for the JAckson children!

Absolutely a complete waste of time. From start to finish. Nothing about the show said tribute. Jamie foxx tried and did the best he could with that thrown togather mess they are calling a tribute. Joe Jackson Should be shot he came out to be seen and heard almost seemed as though he were enjoying his ten minutes of fame instead of Mourning the lost of his son. Beyonce – Great singer, but why why why would she not sing a MJ song. New Edition Horrible. Mics were all f – ed they need practice (diddy plz help) Tiny & Toya Desparate Hood Wives Letting thier DAUGHTERS get up on stage and dance around to that song filled with disrespectful refernces to women . Point Blank BET YOU LOOSE . . .

Sad to say, I was so disapointed. There were parts that were great…but what was up with mr jackson showing NO emotion….I probably cried over Micheal Jackson’s death, more than he has…that was wierd for him to even be there…I wouldnt be able to leave my house for weeks after losing a child. If beyonce was paying a tribute to MJ, they should have made that more clear…it was kind of like “wth is going on? Is she getting married, is she singing opera or is she an angel, is this for mj…wtf?”
I think Keri Hilson did good…I was impressed, was not expecting her to perform so well. Sad to say, we will have to wait for MTV VMAs for the real tribute.

Did you all not see Eddie Levert get his hand stuck in his award and then say “I got my hand stuck” while giving his acceptance speech? We laughed so hard it made sitting through Soulja Boys awful performance and Beyonce’s ridiculous costume worth it.

@yo mama, I didn’t even notice Eddie Levert’s hand getting stuck in the award because I was laughing too hard at his statement about “dancing and sh-t”. Oh yeah, Soulja Boy’s performance was lackluster. A bed and fireworks? YAWN.

I certainly didn’t get the Ave Maria Beyonce tribute, I mean I got it, but I don’t understand why.

I’m thinking they should have booked Sasha Fierce instead.

I am disappointed that Chris Brown didn’t perform… Yeah RIGHT!? I only watched half of the award show and it pretty much sucks every year as far as I am concerned. I did like Jamie Foxx as host though and his performance of “Blame It” with Travis Barker drummin’ was wicked!

As always the best performance & part of the show was the BET lifetime achievement award given to the O’Jays. I loved to see Don Corneliue on stage & he could’ve taken 30 years to finish w/o a problem from me. Also when Alicia Keys & Wyclef Jean won Humanitarian Awards for their outstanding works in Africa & Haiti I felt like nothing could top that. I did like Ne-Yo when he performed “The Lady in my Life.” He put some good vocals down on that one. I of course liked Jay-Z’s performance & I liked his small afro before, but now he looks like the Jigga we’re used to seeing.
