Irv Gotti drops Ashanti from (Murder) Inc. Records (I’ll drink to that!)

irvandashanti

Maybe I am the only one who feels this way, but it was long overdue and it was about dayum time!

Perhaps it’s because of me watching “Gotti’s Way” that made me not like Irv Gotti, but he just seems so arrogant and controlling.

Back to Ashanti. Her singing and dancing is debatable (and laughable), but I felt like he was holding her back and didn’t promote her last album that well. He also reminds me of Damon Dash, so bitter. Check the hate underneath:

“The relationship has run its course,” Gotti explained earlier this week while visiting the MTV offices. “The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places. You’re talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist — 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up. I personally believe for her to be successful, it took the energy … when you seen her, it was 30 n—as around her, and she’s the princess so nice and pretty walking through,” he said. “The music was great, but it was the energy that was created. It wasn’t just her standing there and singing a song.

“We don’t really speak or talk or anything like that,” he continued. “It’s sad in a way. But in another, it’s like it’s all good.”

“I don’t think she can win. She needs some guidance with that,” Gotti added. “But she’s not thinking like that. Really, I couldn’t tell you what she’s thinking. So that relationship has run its course and honestly, I’m gonna just drop her.” (source)

Funny that Irv should say that now, being that season two of “Gotti’s Way” is focused around his family and trying to get (Murder) Inc. Records back on the charts. Let me see, Ja Rule hasn’t had a hit in a while, Lloyd did OK, and now that Ashanti is going to get dropped, who does he have left?

He really needs to eat some humble pie and work his way from the bottom up if he wants to have the same success again.

Is it me or didn’t Irv Gotti REFUSE to let her go when she first wanted to leave either last year or the year before? Ashanti (with her debatable talents & all) made Murder Inc. just as much as Murder Inc. made her. Need we forget that she wrote a slew of records before actually coming out on her own? It was rather easy for Irvin Lorenzo (his government) to work with Ashanti since she already wrote her own lyrics & the same can be said for JA Rule. I’m glad that Ashanti is no longer there. She can prosper well elsewhere under someone else’s guidance.

I actually happen to like Irv Gotti; his mentality is a source of entertainment for me. LOL!
