Tyson Beckford doesn’t like it when celebrities model

You know what? People like Tyson Beckford remind me of people in the real world (yes, I said “real world”), always complaining about how some minorities are taking our jobs or how a certain minority is stealing black men, and so on and so forth.
Celebrities complaining about stuff is nothing new to me. Remember when Samuel L. Jackson was complaining about how rappers wanted to be actors? Now Tyson Beckford is whining about how designers are using celebrities as their muses and not models. Wah wah wah.
“You have to do a lot of tweaking and airbrushing to get the same from a celebrity that you would get from a model,” said Beckford, host of Bravo’s “Make Me a Supermodel,” tells the Associated Press, adding that celebs are taking jobs away from trained models.
“A lot of celebrities — I’m gonna tell you right now — they’re not 5’11″; they’re not a size 2 to fit into these designer dresses, but the designers want exposure so they’re willing to make the specific dress for that actor or actress to get them to look good on the cover,” he says.
“It’ll all come back around,” he says. “One day some designer will wake up and say, ‘You know what? I don’t want to use Gwyneth Paltrow. I want to use Adriana Lima, I want to use Gisele (Bundchen), I want to go back to the high fashion.’ I think slowly but surely you’ll see that start happening.” (source)
It kills me when models have an opinion. Aren’t they paid to just walk the runway and model clothing? I’m not saying that all models are dumb (typical stereotype), but the minute they have an opinion, they are labeled controversial, or, well, dumb.
Tyson better be glad he can still get gigs, he’s pushing 40! He seems to have forgotten a thing called ageism. In this day and age, 38 would be considered over the hill for a model. I want to hear what he has to say when designers pass him up for a younger model.

LMAO I would’ve thought you were a model yourself had I just seen you on the street w/o talking to you home girl. Tyson Beckford kills me often. It doesn’t take AMAZING skills to be a runway model last time I looked. It takes some good looks & a small but lengthy frame with an eye popping switch. There are celebrities who are naturally models so what’s the beef? Tyson needs to go back in his corner & be thankful he’s had such a long run in the business.

Tyson is one of those guys that will work as a model until he is old and gray because he’s a handsome brotha (no homo), but what he has to understand is that designers are realizing that most actors are the same size as models. The benefit of putting an actor in designer clothing is that the actor more than likely comes with more publicity and folks will buy it they feel that an actor that they are a fan of is wearing a hot designers clothing.

[...] I wonder if Tyson Beckford is going to throw a hissy fit after seeing this ad, you know models don’t like celebrities trying to take their job. [...]
