No sad songs on Whitney’s comeback album, as per Ne-Yo.

Not even one love ballad? Well, dayum, Ne-Yo!
R&B star Ne-Yo, who has been helping the star put her new album together, insists it won’t feature any downbeat ballads – because of the improvement in Houston’s personal life. He says, “People are expecting something fantastic and I think they are going to get it. Whitney doesn’t want any sad songs on this record. She isn’t going for tear jerkers. She’s happy raising her children and wants her music to reflect that. It’s already sounding great.” (source)
I notice that a lot of female R & B singers are leaning towards positive music once they clean up their act and/or find happiness in their lives (i.e. Mary J. Blige, Keyshia Cole) and it should be celebrated! Who wants to be singing sad songs for their entire career?
Better Ne-Yo than The Dream writing songs for Whitney’s album anyway, I can only imagine Whitney saying “eh, eh, eh” on a song LOL.

I love Whitney’s classic sad songs like “Saving all my love for you”, “I Have Nothing” & even “Heartbreak Hotel” (which is 10 years old now). We’ll see what Ne-Yo puts together for her. I hope it’s music worthy of her amazing set of pipes.
