R. Kelly and his wife are finally divorced!
R. Kelly is going to be stepping in the name of love by himself! Is it me, or did you think that they were already divorced? And what took so long? Oh, yeah, the child pornography trial. Can’t forget about that….
“R&B singer R. Kelly and his wife of 11 years, Andrea Lee Kelly, are officially divorced, according to a statement from their lawyers Thursday.
Kelly, 42, and Andrea, 35, will have joint custody of their three children. No other details were revealed.
The announcement follows Kelly’s acquittal of child pornography charges in June.
The couple weathered martial ups and downs during the six-year-long case. In 2005, Andrea, filed an emergency protective order to keep the singer away from her amid claims of physical abuse which she rescinded weeks later. The couple then filed for divorce in 2006, but were still trying to make things work.” (source)
I feel like throwing a “Fiesta” in here! I know that you’re supposed to stand by your man and all, but how much could someone take after that whole sex tape scandal? Seriously….
This could make for another chapter of “Trapped in the Closet”. Does anyone know what chapter he is up to these days?

The trial had a lot to do with that divorce. They probably couldn’t deal with custody until the child pornography case was done. He would not have gotten any type of custody if he was found guilty. He also would have to register as a pedophile (depending on where he/they live) and would not be able to be around kids without supervision.
Umm, think his daughters will have sleep overs when they visit daddy?

I’m saddened to see they broke ties. In the few times I’ve seen her the two looked so cute together. I guess that case & the fallout from it overwhelmed their marriage. Hopefully Ms. Kelly can find solace in helping raise her children & possibly finding a new mate that will. I think R. Kelly will be just fine although I’m sure he’s hurting right now. He’s a family man who I’m sured wanted to keep the unit together, but things went awry. I hope R. Kelly comes back stronger than ever.
