Product review: Sake2Me

I had this product for quite some time and forgot to write about it. My bad. Don’t revoke my blogtender license!

For those who don’t know, sake is a Japanese “rice wine”. Depends on who you ask and it may be up for debate, but that’s another topic. Sake2Me (yes that is the real name of the product) has put a twist in traditional sake, they offer FOUR flavored sakes. So many flavors, with tasty names like Ginger Mango and Asian Pear, where do I begin? The review under the hood….

Ginger Mango: Love it. You can taste the mango and the hint of ginger. Could be one of my favorites, until I tasted….

Asian Pear: YES! This is THE ONE!! I love the taste of pears and for a minute, you forget that this is flavored sake. Really, you do..

Yuzo Citrus: Just like the name implies, “citrus”. I love all the fruity, citrus drinks and cocktails.

Green Tea: Sadly, this was my least favorite. I know it was trying to go for the natural, herbal tea approach, but it’s probably geared towards the health nuts or vegans. Just my opinion.

All in all, they are all sparkling and tasty sakes and I find this to be a great concept! You have seen flavored rums, vodkas and even tequilas, why not a flavored sake? I think this would replace the wine cooler (admit it, you know you had a Bartles and Jaymes or a Calvin Cooler).

These flavored sakes should be best served chilled and the ex suggests, with sushi (even though I don’t eat sushi, he feels that I’m missing out). You can find more info at Sake2Me.com.

Thanks Brittany and Jeff!

This is a good idea for sake. Flavored Sake will probably be a big hit just like all other flavored liquors, and I’m sure I’ll start seeing them at the Japanese restaurant I frequent near Columbia University.
