Akon “Right Now (Na Na Na)” – video
What in the Luther Campbell, booty music hell is going on here? I’m waiting for Luke to pop up and say something like, “don’t stop, get it, get it.” KIDDING!!!
Akon has always been that sensitive type in song, when he’s not tossing people off stage or grinding on some underage girl. Let’s be honest here, the song is basically talking about how he wished he never broke up with her, but yet, “let’s just make love (right now, now, now)”. Sounds like a plea to be “friends with benefits”. Ladies, would you even deal with this in real life, a man begging and whining like that?
The chorus, well, repetitive, for lack of a better term. We had “Umbrella, ella, ella, eh” and now this “now now now” business. Sounds like a little kid throwing a tantrum in the middle of the supermarket when he can’t get the cereal he wants and he says, “I want it right now now now!!” UGH.
The video: yawn. The beginning of the video seemed like a trailer to some movie and it questions, when you have everything, what do you want the most? Although I get the concept and it’s trying to tell a story, I don’t feel like it grabbed me and pulled me in at all. I guess it was trying to be a mini-movie? Hype Williams, anyone?

This song sounds like a techno record that would be on repeat at Webster Hall. This record is perfect for the house/techno crowd, but it’s not my cup of tea.
