“Ballin’”, the stage play? Really now?
I see that Jim Jones took time out of his “oh so busy” schedule to stop worrying about who stole his swag and to make a play! Under normal circumstances, I would applaud this because rappers need to explore other territory (acting, clothing line, liquor, magazines, etc). But this? This sh-t right here (in Katt Williams voice)? I’m trying to picture who would play Jim Jones, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, and the rest of the Dipset. I’m also trying to picture some ballerinas twirling in their tutus to “Baaaaaaaallliiiiin!”" I’m wondering who would actually show up for this.
“The play is called “The Jim Jones Project,” and there are a pair of dates later in the month. One source explained the project under the auspice of anonymity.
“Its a new and different way that Jim is showcasing his music. He’s taking his upcoming album and telling his life story via the album and the actors acting it out as a play to release his album,” the source explained. “The upcoming album is the soundtrack to the play. We have two nights.”
The nights for the play are November 12 and 13th according to the source, but neither Jim Jones nor his management was available to confirm at press time.” (source)
Wowwwwww, this sounds like it’s going be really bad! Why so anonymous?
Seriously, I don’t see Tyler Perry shaking in his boots over this. I know a “chitlin circuit” play when I see one. Come on, it has the elements, show runs for a couple of days and then goes on the road. They lie about who is headlining the show and someone ends up taking their place. Liquor during intermission. Fine arts it’s not. Might as well bring a bag of weed and some Henny for this number.

If I smoked weed or drank any liquor this would be the perfect event to get unconscious at. I like the idea in that he’s making a play that’s showcasing his music, but his music isn’t quite that intense to work through a play. Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, and even Jay-Z would be a different story.
