Once again, yours truly was out on the scene at Club Body. Remember, this was the same place that held Shaq’s birthday party back in March. 

11:30 pm: Rain or no rain, I was determined to get out there, with my (freakum) dress and high heels. Drama ensued between the security, the promoters and the ticket collectors. I was told by security that this was a “media only event” and that they weren’t letting in any “outsiders”. HMPH! It turned out that media was only allowed in the VIP lounge and us “outsiders” had to have a ticket to get in. Talk about miscommunication and misunderstanding, huh?

More drama ensued between the promoter and the security as they argued about trying to “protect their money”. I giggled and waited patiently for my friend to arrive and when he did, we were inside.

Somewhere around 12AM-ish: We got our “drink on” in the upstairs portion of the club, since most of the happenings took place there. It was a very sexy environment and the crowd was mature. I noticed that Fab 5 Freddy (of MTV fame) was present. A few hours later, (say around 1AM-ish) we heard a familiar voice coming from the speakers and it was Ms. Erykah Badu. My friend and I made our way into VIP (where she was) after much debate on whether to buy a bottle of some overpriced booze or pay for a bracelet. Bracelet it was. (Wonder Twin powers, ACTIVATE!)

We must say, Erykah is very beautiful in person as she is on TV. She was in the DJ booth wearing her now trademarked oversized black frames, sans oversized afro. She had on silver platform heels, dark pants and a purple top. While she munched on the appetizers in the VIP area, security was surrounding her. It was that serious! Her light brown eyes pierced us as she passed through the crowd and stopped to take pictures.

Although open for a couple of months, Club Body is quickly becoming the new place to be at in Harlem. If you are ever in the New York area, stop by. You’ll never know who will show up. This place is very upscale, it has an intimate and sexy vibe and yes, the bathrooms are STILL unisex. My friend did complain that the individual stalls were quite dark, but nonetheless, this is where you should be on a Friday or Saturday night. I can’t wait until summer, from what I hear they are opening a third floor. Enjoy this pics….I’m gonna go blast some Erykah Badu right now and burn some incense. No cocktails.
