Astor Wines & Spirits…..MzVirgo’s review

astor-wines-logo.gif

I would be doing a disservice to the readers if I didn’t talk about……BOOZE!!!

We’re not talking about just any local liquor store in the hood, I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite best kept secrets, Astor Wines and Spirits.

Located in the Greenwich Village of New York City, when you first arrive, the automatic doors slide open and you walk down the stairs which leads to a massive space full of wines and spirits. It’s like a supermarket! I gush when I grab the shopping cart and stroll down the well organized aisles of vodkas, gins, tequilas and rums. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to assist you when it comes to wines and spirits.

And get this, you are offered a free membership card, which is a plus because you pay a discount price on selected wines and spirits (MzVirgo always loves a discount and never leaves home without that membership card).

Do you want to get a buzz for free? They have tasting events, you have to check their calendars to see what days they are having these events.

Can’t make it to the Village? Too far? Guess what? You can order online!! Yes, I said it! Someone I know ordered directly from the website and their service is incredible(Please check the website to see if your state is allowed to deliver, as some states are restricted.).

You can head on down to Astor Wines and Spirits located on:

Astor Wines & Spirits

399 Lafayette at East 4th Street

New York, NY 10003

I’ve passed by this place all the time & haven’t gone in their once. I don’t drink so I guess that’s my reason. There’s another great place for wine in the village I used to go to. It’s called winesby.com & it’s on 23 Jones street b/w Bleecker & West 4th streets. I used to deliver for the owner Jeff Hock, and the selection of wines is amazing there as well. Of course he has tasting events pretty often as well.

That sounds like a great place. I have something like that here in IL. It’s called Friar Tuck’s and they have the best selection of wine and beer in town. The people all have answers when asked a question and they have weekly beer and wine tasting.

Needless to say, I think I’m gonna have to build a wine cellar soon. LOL! ! ! I’m running out of places to store wine.
