Mimi has low self esteem
Not only is Mariah Carey aware that people think she’s a “ditzy moron” (how I wish Paris Hilton would admit to this), she also is struggling with self esteem issues.
“It’s a dichotomy, I understand,” the 37-year-old Grammy winner tells Allure magazine. “I understand that people think I am a ditzy moron.”
The singer - who was treated for exhaustion in 2001 after a public meltdown - says she still struggles with her confidence.
“I’ve always had really low self-esteem, and I still do,” she says. “What’s weird about that is being onstage, and the love that you get, and the adoration that you feel from your real fans. It’s hard for a partner to compete - just imagine.” (source)
Wah. wah, wah. Pass the tissues, everyone has issues, get a psychiatrist. And if it’s being understood that you are perceived as a ditzy moron, as you put it, then perhaps you need to take some more time off and work on more than your self esteem. Because at 37 years old, Mariah, you are not considered ditzy. More like a demented diva.

I concur with your latter personal comment. She needs to sit down if she feels she has low self esteem. She sure as heck doesn’t act like she suffers from that problem, but only she knows what’s really crackin’ behind her closed doors.

The low self-esteem comes from her childhood Mz. Virgo. It shouldn’t affect anybody including a vet like Mariah, but it does. She never knew who to identify with. Her Caucasian peers never fully accepted her b/c she didn’t look purely European, and her African-American peers didn’t accept b/c she looked too yellow. She was confused as to who she was, and something like that can haunt the best of people until death. She is perceived as ditsy, but she obviously is far from that. With all the songwriting, producing, arranging, singing, and other credits she has to her account she’s actually very intelligent. I noticed that when she spoke about her ex-husband on some BET show 2-years back.

Muhammad, this is why I love you, because we can agree to disagree.
She has been talking about her biracial background for YEARS!!! Every chance she got, she just kept talking about it, forcing it down our throats.
I understand that is not in her control that she is mixed and that people didn’t accept her, but enough already with that! We get that Mariah is of mixed race. You don’t hear Alicia Keys talking about her biracial background that much and she sells records, plays the piano and does her thing just fine. You don’t hear Shemar Moore talk about it, and definitely not (my ex-hubby) Lenny Kravitz.
Maybe her whole “ditzy” thing is an act? Oh well.

she gets all this love from fans, then she says how can a partner compete? y is the partner competing anyway? unless she is the partner, which would kinda make sense since shes the one with self esteem issues, what? this chick got more than self esteem issues
