Rent a handbag without paying full price?

Before I found out about this website, someone clued me in about renting a designer handbag and returning it. I thought she was kidding, like some ghetto nonsense that these girls do, you know, buy something, wear it to the club with the price tag still on and take it back the next day. That was their definition of renting.
But lo and behold, here is a website where ladies can REALLY rent or borrow a designer handbag. The website is called BagBorroworSteal.com and not only can you rent out handbags, you can rent jewelry too. You also have an option of becoming a member for one month, three months or a year.

I’m huge on OWNING sh-t so this wouldn’t work for me. I don’t like to borrow clothes as it is so this website is for the birds. Of course it’s different for a woman. So much goes into a woman’s image, and most are just trying to give off that perfect image to land something they want (sugar daddy, boyfriend, trick, future husband, etc.)

There was an ad in the San Francisco Examiner about 6 months ago for this website. I looked at it and found it similar to a Consignment Store. Who would put there bag(s) up for this and then after people use them would want them back? It also appears that if you “rent” for weeks at a time it becomes very expensive. If you can afford to buy the bag, better off going that route.
Maybe if you had a very “special” occasion to attend and needed to show off a “Judith Leiber bag,” I’d say go for it.

I enjoyed your post – and wanted to add a little comment. Renting handbags IS a lot of fun, and we take great pride and care in ensuring that all the items we rent are new and like new each time they go out. Our customers love to carry the latest thing and they do it not to project an image but just for the LOVE of fashion.
